- Written and designed by ny152_halle, this destroyer is based on the design of the Johnston (DD-557), a US Navy Fletcher-class destroyer of WWII, now sunk at the bottom of the Philippine Trench. Authentically recreates key elements such as deck guns and propeller shafts.
- Destroyer Johnston (DD-557), part of the Fletcher class, was built for the U.S. Navy during World War II. Named for Lieutenant Commander John V. Johnston, it was laid down in May 1942, launched on March 25, 1943, and commissioned on October 27, 1943, with Commander Ernest E. Evans in command. It served in various battles, providing naval support in gunfire and escort duties. The ship was discovered sunken in the Philippine Trench in October 2019, identified in March 2021, and found to be one of the deepest wrecks at over 20,000 feet. Samuel B. Roberts also sank during the same battle.
