- After September 11, many things changed, leaving a gap in the New York skyline; to fill this gap and give hope to New Yorkers, a new World Trade Center was planned. The first building to be rebuilt was 7 WTC, which was inaugurated on May 23, 2006. Construction of One WTC, the tallest tower in the complex, began during the same period and ended on November 3, 2014.4 Construction of WTC began in January 2008 and was completed on November 13, 2013; finally, 3 WTC is the most recent tower in the complex, inaugurated in June 2018. Another two towers are planned on the World Trade Center complex: 2 WTC and 5 WTC, whose construction is delayed due to some financial and political issues. The World Trade Center complex includes other buildings, including the September 11 Museum, the Oculus transportation hub, and the Perelman Performing Arts Center.
