- Harley-Davidson was born in 1903 on the shores of Lake Michigan in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. The first motorcycle, in 1905, featured an air-cooled single-cylinder engine with a displacement of around 400 cc. But Harley's true legend began with its V-twin design. From 1909 to today, the sound of the V-twin engine has resonated for a century.
- Since its creation, Harley has weathered various storms: World War I, the 1920s, the Great Depression, World War II, reputational problems, restructuring and revival, the birth of the Fat Boy, international expansion, challenges with police patrol models, the 2007 strike and the financial crisis. Yet it has remained a prominent brand in the eyes of motor machine enthusiasts around the world, embodying passion, freedom and enthusiasm. It is an icon for rock music lovers of the 1960s, a spokesman for the "Peace and Love" era and a pioneer of road-going motorcycles with dual exhausts and engines over 1000 cc.
- The Milwaukee-Eight engine is the company's ninth-generation "Big Twin" engine, but it's only the fourth all-new Big Twin that Harley has introduced in 80 years, first released in 2016. These engines differ from traditional Big Twin engines in that each cylinder has four valves, for a total of eight, hence the name. In addition, it marks a return to the single-cam configuration used on Harley Big Twin engines from 1936 to 1999. All of these engines feature internal balancers, with dual camshafts balancing only Softail models, and on Softail models the engine is rigidly mounted.
