Description
Description
- This Silkwood Street, MOC-53778, is licensed and designed by Brick Artisan.
- Silkwood Street is a 32x32 modular MOC set featuring 3 unique buildings; a tailor's shop, a carpenter's shop and a furniture shop. While other buildings focus on large scales with 4-5 levels and a single facility in a 32x32 baseplate, Silkwood Street focuses on the smaller buildings but has many small details both inside and out. As my favorite YouTuber I would always say: DIVERSITY & DENSITY. The MOC set creates a scene resembling a city, with interesting buildings and stories behind them.
- The Schneiderschau was the first building to be designed. The combination of sand green, tan and white leaves a warm and welcoming ambiance that will draw any visitor to look inside and see what the seamstress has to offer. The ground floor serves as a workshop with a sewing machine, mannequins, cloths and small tools. The light pink and white tile work may seem odd but fits the theme and works well as this is a clothing store. The 1st floor is the living room complete with a bed, small kitchen/dining area & WC. It also has an access ladder to the attic.
- The Carpenter's Workshop is an old-style building mostly inspired by Hagrid's Cabin (75947). The light and dark gray, light brown and brown colors create the stone building style and stand out from normal plain square buildings. It's small but has the essentials for the carpenter to create his wonderful furniture. It features a work table, closet, wood cutter and hole drill. On the 1st floor is the living room with a bed, a small kitchen, a comfortable armchair and even a fireplace with a working light.
- The shopkeeper's furniture store is more modern and elegant. It has a clean dark blue and white look that exudes a bit of class and poise. The interior is just as interesting as the exterior with various pieces of furniture on display for visitors to view and hopefully purchase. The first floor is a continuation of the furniture store and the top floor is a living space for the shopkeeper with a bed, a small kitchen and a dining area.
- The Story: A story as old as time. Behind every interesting building is a story. This is no different. The dressmaker, carpenter and shopkeeper all grew up together on Silkwood Street. The carpenter and the shopkeeper are brothers who have both been secretly in love with the seamstress since they were young. Now one is holding a ring of wood, the other is holding a ring of gold. How this story continues depends on the creator creating it.
- The Design: The design of the 3 buildings tries to find a balance between being unique and stylish, but having as much accessible parts as possible. Whenever possible 1x6x5 panels and 1x1x5 bricks are used if they don't spoil the overall look to reduce the parts required for construction. Using most of the pieces from Hagrid's Hut (75947) and several 40120 sets would make it easier for creators to collect the pieces. Aside from the above sets, there are still plenty of parts to acquire, but most of these are common and easily accessible. Most pieces can also be replaced with alternative colors available in the creator's collection
- Other improvements and adjustments: The MOC set was developed with further improvements and adjustments in mind. The seamstress' attic was left without items, but with a removable panel. As any block fanatic would know, attics (and basements) have one primary purpose: to be turned into a room. It would depend on the creator what theme he wants to place in the attic. Additional small appliances and furniture can also be added to each room to make it denser and add more detail. The exterior looks complete but can also be customized. The round tiles that look like rocks could be changed to gray tiles to make the set more compatible with other modular buildings. As with any other official set/MOC, there are no limits to the imagination with this set.
