  • The model was originally designed and licensed by copernicus508.

  • A total of 170 units of the 151 series were built between 1972 and 1978. It was designed and built based on the concept of the well-known and proven 103 series. Compared to its predecessor, the 150 series, the top speed was increased from 100 km/h to 120 km/h. Performance was also significantly increased. Performance was also significantly increased. Up to the operating number 151 075, the 151 series were painted in the previously used chrome oxide green. All other machines were painted in the familiar color ocean blue/ivory. In the 1990s, the 151 series were first painted in oriental red, then in traffic red. From 1976, the 151 series reached a peak in freight transport in the heavy ore traffic between the North Sea ports and the Peine-Salzgitter steelworks, as well as to Saarland. The trains initially had load capacities of up to 5,700 tonnes, and from 2003 this was increased to 6,000 tonnes. They were operated exclusively in double traction and with automatic coupling, as the conventional screw coupling would not have been able to withstand the very high tensile forces. The BR 151 was also used in passenger transport. The BR 151 is still in use today, although 100 locomotives have since been sold to a consortium of Railpool and Toshiba. The locomotive can easily be equipped with up to two traction motors. There is enough space inside the locomotive for a battery box and an IR receiver. There is an opening in the base plate through which the cables can be easily routed. Part of the roof can also be removed, making the battery box very easy to access. Most of the white parts can be replaced with any colour, as they are not visible from the outside.
