- Dark Troopers were experimental battle droids developed as part of the Galactic Empire's Dark Trooper program. The program's failure contributed to the Joint Chiefs' disillusionment with battle droids. Accordingly, the following Dark Trooper models were actually full body suits worn by a human pilot. However, the Dark Troopers also resembled the DT series guard droids that were also used by the Empire.
