Ferrari is famous for its prancing horse logo, its super-exclusive sports cars and its roaring engines. One of these engines is the F136 V8 series, whose power units are at the heart of some of Ferrari's most prestigious cars of recent years and several cars from the equally renowned Italian automaker Maserati. Carefully designed by Ferrari product planners and engineers, the F136 first appeared in the 2004 Ferrari F430 and the car has appeared in several video games, films and music videos.

The F136 engine series has won a total of 8 awards in the international Engine of the Year competition. The F136 FB engine model won the "Best Performance Engine" and "Over 4.0 Litre" awards in 2011 and 2012, while the F136 FL model won in the same categories in 2014 and 2015. Even if it hadn't won an award, this engine would have deserved a place in the hallowed halls of automotive history. For more than a decade it has been used in some of the best cars ever made in Italy, and with almost every iteration the engine has easily gotten bigger and more powerful.
