- DD-661 is a Fletcher-class destroyer and the first ship of the U.S. Navy to carry the ship named for Isaac Kidd, Rear Admiral C. Kidd, who died on the bridge of his flagship, the USS Arizona, during a Japanese attack on the U.S. Navy in 1941. Pearl Harbor. Admiral Kidd was the first U.S. naval officer killed in World War II and the first U.S. admiral killed in action.
