- The People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) Fujian (port number: 18, referred to as Fujian) is the first catapult aircraft carrier designed and built completely independently by China, with a flat, straight, long flight deck configured with an electromagnetic catapult and blocking device, with a displacement of more than 80,000 tons at full load. Fujian is Asia's first supercarrier, with a flight deck 320 meters long and 76 meters wide. According to Robert Farley, editor of American Diplomat magazine, Fujian will be "the largest and most advanced aircraft carrier ever built outside the United States" and the largest warship ever built in Asia. Fujian is the second carrier to use the "catpult takeoff arrest and recovery" system after the current carriers of the United States and France.
